This forum is devoted to the Royal Navy during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars (1793 - 1815).
And why not the other navies of the period?

Two old and incomplete lists:
"Répertoire des navires de guerre français" by Pierre le Conte, Cherbourg 1932.

"Répertoire des navires de guerre français" based on the work of Jean Meirat and edited by "l'Association des Amis des Musées de la Marine", Paris

They have been expanded: "Répertoire Dictionaire des navires de guerre Français de 1066 à nos jours" by Jacques Vichot, 2 vols, 21,700 ships.
You can probably order them at http://www.amis-musee-marine.net/, but I have been unable to find how.

The "Société Française d'histoire Maritime" has published a "Liste des bâtiments de la flotte de guerre française, de 1700 à nos jours" by Franck Lecalve et Jean-Michel Roche, 2001, 10,400 ships.

At http://www.netmarine.net/dico/, you can order the "Dictionnaire des bâtiments de la flotte de guerre française de Colbert à nos jours", 2 vols: 1671-1870 and 1870-2006, 13,300 ships.

The "Editions A.N.C.R.E" in Nice which are publishing the marvelous books of Jean Boudriot, have published 6 lists:
MARINE DE LOUIS XIII et ANNE D'AUTRICHE
Navires Français de 1610 à 1661

MARINE DE LOUIS XIV
Navires Français de 1661 à 1715

MARINE DE LOUIS XV
Navires Français de 1715 A 1774

MARINE DE LOUIS XVI
Navires Français de 1774 A 1792

MARINE DE LA REVOLUTION
Navires Français de 1792 A 1799

MARINE DU CONSULAT ET DU PREMIER EMPIRE
Navires Français de 1800 A 1815

by Alain Demerliac, 1999-2003, Omega and A.N.C.R.E.
They compare with Colledge work for the Royal Navy, but are quite expensive.
