Recent visitors to HMS VICTORY may have noticed the Georgian 'Photo-Me' machine that has been tastefully placed on the upper gun-deck (port side) suitably close to the Great Cabin. Apparently this has been installed under the aegis of the new National Museum of the RN, over the objections of the Commanding Officer & the Curator, simply because it will make some money.
Money rules - who cares about history & respect?
The only bright side is that it is reported that Spanish & French schoolchildren have displayed a particular talent for putting it out of action, thus showing that the descendants of Nelson's opponents at Trafalgar have a better intuitive sense of what is proper than those who should know better.
