At the 1980 Democratic National Convention, Jimmy Carter committed a famous gaffe when he referred to the late Vice President Hubert Horatio Humphrey as "One of our nation's greatest leaders, Hubert Horatio Hornblower__er Humphrey."

I can well imagine. I wonder whether it was a true slip of the tongue or a deliberate one.

Speaking of Hornblower: when I was reading The Commodore, especially the scene that he met the young Czar who was sitting in an obscured corner, I was certain that I once saw that on television. I did some searching and it was not a movy but an episode of a series of short films. I would really like to see it again but I cannot find it. Does any one of you might have it on tape or the like and be willing to share it? |
