My ggg grandfather Charles William MARTIN of Magdeburg Prussia was an ordinary seaman on HMS ACHILLE in the Battle of Trafalgar. He was discharged from the Navy in 1815.

Advice on how I might learn more of how he came to join the Navy, his service record, non-Trafalgar prize money, pension, etc, would be appreciated.

Gordon

Achille,

Send an email to Kevin...(See the link below)

http://hometown.aol.co.uk/KevinAsplin/home.html

He will a) advice you, and / or b) go and research for you at the National Archives in Kew.

He is superbly diligent, honest and kind.

He researched a great deal of important material for my own `man' whose Trafalgar NGS I hold.
