The 14th February always brings to mind, for me, not merely 'St.Valentine's Day' but also, much more importantly, the anniversary of the Battle of St. Vincent.

More specifically, it makes me think of the extraordinary character, Sir Edward Berry, probably my personal favourite among Nelson's Band of Brothers.

A brief 'bio' of Berry here [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Berry ] reminds us of his more notable exloits, including his `Boys Own' heroics at the Battle of St. Vincent itself.

Poignantly, he died in 1831 on the 13th of February, just one day short of celebrating yet another anniversary of his most famous and glorious role in British Naval history.

A toast to Sir Edward Berry.
