Can anyone help me with some information on the French Magicienne class frigate Topaze(1790-1793)?
When the ship was taken into British service what was her crew complement?
Thank you,

James

Hello,
The Topaze was taken into the British Navy when the combined allies of Britain and Spain occupied the French city of Toulon in August 1793. The Royalist French handed her over to the British. She was refitted at Portsmouth from December 1794 to November 1795.
Her complement (according to Rif Winfield) was 280 (274 in 1794).
She was finally sold off at Portsmouth on the 1st September 1814.
