The French Admiral

An officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve was attending a conference of officers from the U.S. navy and the French navy. At a cocktail reception, he found himself in a small group that included personnel from both navies.
A French admiral started complaining that whereas Europeans learned many languages Americans learned only English. He then asked: ‘Why is it that we have to speak English at these conferences rather than speak French?’
Without hesitating, an American admiral replies: ‘Maybe it’s because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn’t have to speak German.

And if it wasn’t for Nelson we would all be speaking French!

To see all their other ships!

Peter,
That's not a French one, it's an Italian one.
Also the reason why the Italians tanks have one forward gear and four reverse.

Patrick, it's not true is it?

I came across this on the internet about the Belgian nation:

You get to speak three languages, but none of them intelligibly.

If other countries want to fight a war they do it in Belgium.

You can brew drinks out of fruit, and still call it beer.

You are either:
a. Like the Dutch just lest efficient.
b. Like the French, but less romantic.
c. Like the Germans.

Decent chips / fries. Real mayonnaise. Great chocolate. The best beer?

No one knows anything about you, except for the Dutch and French and they make fun of you.

More scandals in a week than any other country in a decade.

You can drive like a maniac and nobody bothers.

All your famous countrymen are either imaginary, or sex-offenders.

...............................................

Where is the best place to hide your money?

Under a Frenchman's soap.

Why are there so many tree-lined boulevards in France?

Germans like to march in the shade.
