Wrecked in 1720.

  • Rebuild of a fireship built at Rotherhithe in 1690.
  • 1702 Capt. George CAMMOCK, appointed 6th. June. In June 1706 on a cruise to the south-west in company with SHOREHAM, he fell in with a small fleet of ten sail bound for Martinique and other French colonies in the West Indies, they captured five and carried them safely to Ireland.
  • He was sent to the West Indies where he attacked and burnt a large French privateer in the harbour of Basse-Terre at Guadeloupe. He returned from this station in the following spring, as escort to the Broughton Galley, a vessel from Guinea having on board a very valuable cargo, including a considerable quantity of gold dust. He captured two prizes during his passage home, one of them a brigantine mounting six guns.
  • He returned to the Irish station and in May 1709 was ordered by the Lord Lieutenant to sail from Kinsale to search for two French privateers who had entered Bantry Bay and taken the Ruth of London, supposed to be worth 25,000 L. He sailed for Beerhaven were he met one of the privateers with her prize. The latter was immediately retaken, and after sending his lieutenant with 40 men to take possession, he went in a futile search for the privateer. He entered Bantry Bay the next morning and captured the other privateer, which was manned mainly by Irishmen. They were sent to Cork to be tried for high treason.
  • About three weeks later he surprised a French privateer of 12 guns and 90 men, on the point of capturing three richly laden merchant ships, all of which he brought safe into Londonderry. He was soon after promoted to the MONCK (60).
  • 1710 Capt. Philip VANBRUGH, appointed 27th. November.
  • 1716 Capt. Hon. George CLINTON, when promoted to post captain in SPEEDWELL on 16 June he was aged 31.
