  • 1745 Capt. Henry COSBY, on the 26th. August, he was quickly removed to the AMAZON.
  • 1745 Capt. James OSBORNE, appointed 20th. September. He was employed as a cruiser, and captured several small privateers.
  • 1753 Capt. Julian LEGGE, ordered to the West Indies. Here a number of people from Bermuda were in the habit of going to the islands offshore for the purpose of catching turtles. Capt. LEGGE left the following declarations at each place.
  • To prevent any violence being used on any of the people who live on Grand Key, Salt Key, or Seal Key, it is thought proper to leave this declaration, that we cut down the arms of his most christian majesty, and the crosses which were used as marks of possession upon the said islands, and carried away the same, pursuant to instructions for so doing, and further, that his Britannic majesty will not suffer any marks of possession to be put on any of the keys or islands, known by name of the Turk's Islands.
