  • 1745 Capt. George EDGCOMBE. On 1st. March 1747 he carried into Plymouth a French East India ship of 700 tons, called the JASON, which he fell in with on the 30th. January, in the latitude of 47deg. 47min. N., 106 leagues west of Scilly. She mounted thirty guns, had 180 men on board, and was bound from L'Orient to Pondicherry, laden chiefly with stores and ammunition, together with five cases of silver.
