  • In 1759 a cause was heard before Lord Chief Justice Willis in which the plaintiff was Mr Nickleson of Poole who was suing Capt. FORTESCUE for impressing the men out of the Thomas & Elizabeth, from Newfoundland to Poole, in consequence of which the said ship was lost; the verdict was given for the plaintiff, who was awarded 1000 L and costs.
