- 1697 Capt. George SYMONDS. In April he was made commodore of a small squadron to convoy the trade destined for the West Indies, but they fell in with a strong French squadron soon after they cleared the Isles of Scilly. He was brought before a court martial and dismissed the service on the 14th. February 1697/8.
