  • Adm. BOSCAWEN brought MODESTE to Spithead on 15 September. "A fine ship, launched the previous May, she carried 32 pounders on her lower deck; her quarter-deck guns were brass, and five brass swivels on her poop, very little hurt." At Portsmouth in Feb. 1767, a Mary Peck produced a false certificate of marriage with Richard Walker, a deceased seaman from MODESTE, to obtain his wages. She and her husband, Cornelius Peck, were sent to Winchester goal,
