  • 1761 James WALKER, 12 May, Sheerness. John HICKS, Master. Convoy escort and cruiser in Straits of Dover. 27 July, 6 days refit at Sheerness, then employed as packet-boat escort between East Anglian ports and Holland.
  • 1762 Portsmouth from 4 February for refit. Sailed from Spithead on 2 March for Guernsey to join a convoy for the West Indies with MERCURY (20). LURCHER carried away her main-gaff and received damage to her masts and rigging in brief encounter with a privateer which necessitated repairs at Plymouth. The convoy finally sailed on 17 March and joined Ad. POCOCK's fleet at Barbados on 23 April. LURCHER took part in the attack on Havanna and accompanied BELLE ISLE, CERBERUS, MERCURY and BONNETTA in the bombardment and capture of Fort Chorera. LURCHER's boat was captured in the Chorera River on 13 June. Capt. WALKER and the surgeon, George Craig, were killed and two men were mortally wounded.
