  • 1705 Capt. Richard LESTOCK, 29th. April, Mediterranean. He was sent home in September with the news of the surrender of Alicante. On his return he was ordered to cruise with the ROMNEY (50), Capt. CONEY, and the MILFORD, Capt. STANHOPE. Having put into Gibraltar they received intelligence on the 15th. December O. S. that a French privateer mounting 16 guns, at anchor under the guns of Malaga, had on board nearly thirty pieces of brass cannon that had been salvaged from the MAGNANIME, a French ship driven ashore about a year previously.
