Used as breakwater at Harwich in 1748.

  • 1715 Capt. Conningsby NORBURY, one of the fleet ordered to the Baltic under Sir John NORRIS.
    She was renamed ARGYLL in 1715, and Capt. NORBURY was sent out to the Mediterranean under Rear Ad. CORNWALL.
    In 1718 he continued under Sir George BYNG, Ad. CORNWALL removing his flag into SHREWSBURY.
    Capt. NORBURY distinguished himself in the action with the Spanish fleet, leading the detachment to pursue the six warships, galleys and other smaller vessels which separated from the Spanish fleet prior to the engagement. Rear Ad. CORNWALL moved his flag back to ARGYLE after the victory and convoyed the prizes into Port Mahon.
