ZEPHYR (16) Built in 1809, Portsmouth.
Sold in 1818.

  • 1809 F. G. DICKINS, Downs. On 8 February 1811 he captured the French lugger privateer VICTOIRE of 16 guns and 63 men.
  • 1812 Thomas Cuthbert HITCHINS, 08/1811, cruising in Channel. He captured the American letter of marque schooner ANTELOPE on the 10 December 1812. She had 10 guns and 32 men and was bound for Bordeaux from New York.
  • In February 1814 Lieut. Henry Potter MALPAS of ZEPHYR faced a court martial charged with several instances of drunkenness and misappropriating part of the bounty money he had received on behalf of the volunteers aboard. He was found guilty and dismissed the service. It was recommended that Capt. HITCHINS should pay the money since it was by his orders that MALPAS received it.
    Cdr. HITCHENS was promoted to post rank in June 1814.
