  • Originally to be named THUNDERER.
    Because the great accumulation of small or frigate's timber in the dockyards Robert Seppings proposed a plan for using this timber in the frames of ships-of-the-line and, following a direction by their Lordships dated 28 February 1814, the TALAVERA was built on this principle at a saving of £900 compared with the BLACK PRINCE of similar dimensions.
