- A fine vessel only seven months old and armed with twenty 9-pounders, she was renamed SURINAM and Lieut. Christopher COLE of the PRINCE OF WALES was appointed to command her by Lord Hugh SEYMOUR.
Her crew maintained good health at a time yellow fever was ravaging other ships. - 1803 Lieut. Robert TUCKER.(act.
Cdr.) She was detained as a prize by the Dutch on the Isle of Curacao in the summer of 1803, renamed SURINAME and retaken on 1 January 1807 when the island was captured by Captain Charles BRISBANE's squadron.
