  • 1759 Commodore James YOUNG, With Ad. Sir Edward HAWKE's fleet at the battle with M. de Conflans in Quiberon Bay on 20th. November. MARS was in the rear at the start of the action and crowded on all sail to get up. This was nearly accomplished when darkness put an end to the fighting; and immediately afterwards she was ordered into Quiberon Bay with a squadron to search for stragglers. Capt. YOUNG continued in MARS until the end of the war and in September 1761, when he was cruising off Cape Finisterre, captured a French privateer called the Amarante.
  • 1761 Capt. Richard SPRY, with Commodore Augustus KEPPEL in the expedition against Belleisle in April May 1761.
