LADY NELSON (6) A 60 ton brig purchased on 16 December 1800. Known as "His Majesty's Tinder-Box".
Destroyed in Timor in 1825.

  • 1800 1803 Lieut. James GRANT.
    Voyage of discovery in the southern hemisphere visiting the Cape Verde Islands, the Cape of Good Hope, Australia and the Falkland Is.
    GRANT later commanded RAVEN and THRACIAN. She accompanied Matthew FLINDERS in INVESTIGATOR north from Sydney in July 1802 but was sent back.
  • LADY NELSON was used as a storeship in New South Wales until commissioned by Lieut. SYMONDS in 1806.
    By the end of 1807 she was at Spithead and returned to New South Wales in 1808. She survived being wrecked at Port Macquarie in May 1815.
    On 19 February 1825 she sailed from Fort Dundas and her crew were later killed by the natives of Bada while they were bartering for livestock.
    LADY NELSON was run ashore and wrecked.
