LADY ANN (10) Hired lugger No details.
  • 1800 Lieut. J.
    WRIGHT, North Sea.
On the 5 May 1800 Lieut. WRIGHT was sent to examine the anchorage at Flushing. He found nothing there and he was returning to the squadron off Goree when he came across the French privateer lugger LES HUIT FRERES. The privateer threw nine of her fourteen long carriage guns overboard in her efforts to escape but Lieut. WRIGHT brought her to action close to the shore batteries near West Capel. When she surrendered he found on board as prisoners 15 British subjects. His prize was so damaged that he had escort her into Yarmouth.
