    During the year he helped maintain the blockade of Guadeloupe and on 30 August reported the capture of a lugger-rigged rowing boat from Martinique with 22 men and small arms, which was taking a howitzer and ammunition from Guadeloupe to the French troops in Marie Galante. ATTENTIVE and EXPRESS both captured similar vessels.

  • In March 1818 Capt. James MURRAY of ATHOL was charged, at the instance of Rear Ad. PLAMPIN, with failing to supply the JULIA, and the island of ASCENSION, with the necessary stores. The charges were not proved and he was acquitted.
