    HAWKE took part in the landings which led to the surrender of the Danish and Dutch possessions in the West Indies in the spring of 1801.
    Afterwards Capt. GARNIER was given an acting order and Rear Ad. DUCKWORTH's first lieutenant, George William BLAMEY, was appointed to succeed him and he continued in command until the cessation of hostilities.
    During the course of one week he circumnavigated the island of Trinidad, visiting every settlement and taking soundings all round the coast.
    The information was forwarded to the Hydrographical Office.
