  • 1838 William SMYTH, 09/1838, South America. She took the GANGES on 28 April 1839 and the SANDADE on 12 February 1841.

    During 1848 GRECIAN captured a Brazilian brig with nearly 500 slaves on board.
    An attempt was made to recapture her off Bahia but Lieut. D'AGUILAR and the 10 men of the prize crew managed to drive off with musket fire some 150 Brazilians in the pay of the slavers, killing 10 of them and wounding 30 in the process.
    Most of the prize crew were wounded.
