Lost in 1835.

  • Built by Elias Eveson of Devonshire Parish,to the design of Lieut. Edward HOLLAND who became her first commander, 09/1828.
    He was invalided home and replaced by Lieut. John M'DONNELL, 12/1830.
    The slaver DESPIQUE was taken on 25 May 1834.
    On 27 February 1835 FIREFLY was wrecked off the coast of British Honduras with the loss of several lives.
    The commanding officer and the crew were acquitted of blame but the clerk was reprimanded for persuading the crew to make for Belize without ascertaining that the captain had, in fact, survived.
