Lost in 1812.

  • 1807 Ditto, forming part of the inshore squadron protecting the British forces attacking Copenhagen in August 1807.
    Following the completion of a battery of thirteen 24-pounders on the left wing of the army and the construction of mortar batteries under the cover of the guns, the enemy assembled their praams and gunboats on the 22 August in a preparation for an attack on the works.
    The following day the advanced squadron (THUNDER, ZEBRA, FURY, AETNA, VESUVIUS, CRUIZER, KITE, MUTINE, HEBE, FEARLESS, INDIGNANT, URGENT, PINCHER, TIGRESS, DESPARATE and SAFEGUARD.
    which was defending the British positions was attacked by three praams, each carrying 20 guns, and more than 30 gunboats, in addition to the fire from floating batteries and block ships.
    The exchange of fire lasted for more than four hours when the gunbrigs which were closest to the enemy were ordered to retire.
    One of the enemy gunboats was disabled or sunk and one of the praams had to be towed out of the action.
  • FEARLESS had two seamen killed.
    Lieut. WILLIAM, one seaman and two marines were wounded.
    By the 25th. the damage received in the action had been repaired.
