BRAVE
(74) |
Taken from the French in 1806. Lost in 1806. |
- BRAVE belonged to a squadron which sailed from Brest in December 1805 and was attacked by Vice Ad. Sir John DUCKWORTH off San Domingo on 6 February 1806. DONEGAL fired her starboard broadside into BRAVE then, loffing round under her stern, brought her to close action. ATLAS surrendered after about half an hour. Three enemy line-of-battle ships were captured and two driven ashore and burnt.
The prizes BRAVE, JUPITER and ALEXANDRE were taken to Jamaica. - Cdr. Edmund BOGER was appointed to BRAVE to take her to England. She foundered off the Azores on 12 April 1806 while making the passage home.
