AURORA (38) The French LA CLORINDE taken by Capt. PHILLIMORE in EUROTUS and Capt. GALWAY in DRYAD in the Atlantic on 26 February 1814.
Broken up in 1851.

  • 1821 Capt. Henry PRESCOTT, 6 April 1821. In June she sailed for the South American station where Capt. PRESCOTT was senior officer on the Atlantic coast until Sir Thomas HARDY returned from the Pacific where Capt. PRESCOTT replaced him for 18 months.
  • In 1822 he compelled the Congress of Peru to abandon a forced tax of 200,000 dollars on the British merchants in Lima. The merchants, in gratitude, voted 1,500 dollars for a testimonial in October.
  • AURORA took on specie at the different ports of Peru and Chile and returned to England to be paid off in February 1825.
  • 1825 Capt. John MAXWELL, 02/1825, Lisbon.
  • 1826 Capt. Charles John AUSTEN, 06/1826, Jamaica.
  • 1828 Out of commission at Plymouth
