Wrecked in 1799.

  • 1796 Capt. MANLEY.
    On 22 June 1796 APOLLO and DORIS captured the French LEGERE (22) off the Isles of Scilly. The prize was taken into the Royal Navy under the same name.
  • 1798 Capt. Peter HALKETT. She was wrecked on the Haak Sands on the coast of Holland on 7 January 1799 whilst chasing a Dutch ship. The crew were saved by a Prussian vessel that went to their assistance. Capt. HALKETT was acquitted of blame at a court martial on 15 January but the pilot, whose neglect caused the loss, was dismissed his Majesty's service.
    Capt. HALKETT was appointed to a new frigate of the same name.
