- 1758 Capt. Matthew WHITWELL. He was appointed at the end of the year and, from 1760 he was stationed in the Mediterranean.
- 1759 With a detachment of ships under Rear Ad. GEARY sent to reinforce HAWKE, who was in pursuit of de Conflans who had sailed from Brest and had been involved in a fleet action in Quiberon Bay on 20 November. They arrived several days too late.
- After the peace WHITWELL was appointed to AUGUSTA (64).
