AMARANTHE (14) Taken on 31 December 1796 by Capt. Sir R. J. STRACHEN in DIAMOND (38) off Alderney.
Lost in 1799.

  • 1799 Francis VESEY, 12/1797, Jamaica.
    She captured the French letter of marque schooner VENGEUR on 13 April 1799. Although she was only armed with six 4-pounders she held off AMARANTHE for over an hour losing 14 killed and 5 wounded out of 36 on board. AMARANTHE lost one man killed, Sam. MILES, a quartermaster and three seamen wounded. The French vessel had been carrying a cargo of flour from St. Jago de Cuba.
  • On 25 October 1899 AMARANTHE was wrecked off Florida.
