  • 1781 Capt. Charles THOMPSON.
    Involved in the actions with the French off Martinique in April 1881, off the Chesapeake on 5 September 1781 when ALCIDE lost 2 killed and 18 wounded, and St. Kitt's during January 1782. She was with Lord RODNEY at his victory over the French fleet on 12 April 1782.
    ALCIDE returned home in June 1783.
  • 1791 Capt. Robert LINZEE 1793 He hoisted his broad pennant as a Commodore in the Mediterranean with Capt. J WOODLEY as his captain.
    ALCIDE had 9 men wounded and suffered damage in an unsuccessful attack in company with COURAGEUX, ARDENT, LOWESTOFFE and NEMESIS, on the redoubt at Fornelli, in the Gulf of San Fiorenzo, Corsica, on 30 September 1793.
  • On 11 April 1794 her boats saved the crew of PROSELYTE, which had been set on fire by hot shot from Bastia.
  • In June 1794 Capt. LINZEE was promoted to Rear Admiral and Capt. T R. SHIVERS was appointed his flag captain.
    In August Capt. Sir T. EYARD was appointed to her. Vice Ad. COSBY hoisted his flag in her in October 1794.
  • 1799 Repairing at Portsmouth.
  • 1803 Receiving ship at Portsmouth.
